Wow, sounds good!

Loving the color combo also, perfect looking balance of silver red and blue.

I have the farings too, but ive kept them off for the time being. Made me feel less worried if i let the bike fall over. Ive been hesitant to put them on again for fear of jinxing myself and somehow letting it fall over and breaking them. Irrational, i know.

Kinja'd!!!0

That's a good decision, Since it looks great naked and with fairings. Frame sliders?

Is it a DD?

Kinja'd!!! MountainCommand > jkm7680
09/12/2014 at 20:45

Kinja'd!!!1

I like the naked look too. No frame sliders. They dont make a bolt on kit for the fzr, and custom modification is necessary for sliders. So im not gonna worry. If i crash, theres a much bigger chance of the bike going off into the woods where sliders would make a hellabeans difference.

I ride it as much as i can. To work, events, anywhere. I just dont ride in the rain since i have no waterproof gear yet...

Awesome! I'm thinking of commuting solely on my bike, just around 59 mpg compared to 21 on my A4 and expensive ass gas.

Use the bike as much as you want. If you have to take the car, take it. No reason to lock yourself into just one machine. Set up a rotation. Plus, somedays its too hot (other days it rains) and ill be sweating like crazy before i even start my shift, and no one wants a sweaty sales guy, even if he rides a bike haha.

Both my bike a car take premium so yeah 55mpgs for me is alot better than 28mpgs.

Yeah, For me it's mainly just a thing about showing up in a presentable manner.

The idea would be to drive maybe twice out of a five day workweek, and leave pants there for the rest of the week. (Me no likey overpantsy.)

For my recently quit part timer, I didn't really give a shit because I didn't have to deal with customers often.

When i ride to work, i kinda go squidding... I just wear my jacket and these timberland boots, and then my jeans (obviously i have gloves and helmet on tho). Its not a far ride, max speed is 35, so i take the calculated risk.

Im looking into like knee/leg protection/armor that just straps over your clothes, like a knee pad. Because changing at work isnt an option for me.

The days i wear dress slacks, i always drive. I know jeans are bad for riding, but im not that dumb to ride in super thin dress slacks haha. Plus id have to ride in dress shoes instead of boots..

Kinja'd!!! jkm7680 > MountainCommand
09/12/2014 at 21:19

Kinja'd!!!0

Haha, I only squid when I'm under 30 mph.

But seriously, Try overpants. They don't cost that much, I'm just not a huge fan of how they feel but you might like em.

Those vest things would also be pretty nice, but then again elbows would still be exposed.

I always wear my armoured jacket. Its just that i skip the protective pants. Id like some real riding jeans. but 2-300 dollars is a lot. I already spent a ton on the leathers and race boots, i cant quite do jeans yet.

Also, look at all the harley guys. They dont wear ANY real protective gear, for the most part... (heck my uncle rides his harley all the time in jeans and a plain white T shirt, and a skull cap) I figure im still a couple steps ahead, and im not gonna be hooning on the way to work.

Just depends on what you are comfortable with. I dont like riding without the gear, but sometimes i just do.

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah, Haha.

Harley guys neevvverrrr wear any gear. Then everybody bitches at sportbike guys for being squids while wearing T-Shirts gloves and protective pants.

Sometimes I'll skip the gloves when it's super hot, but usually jacket is an always.

Kinja'd!!!1

double standards.... sheesh.

Without gloves! gasp! I dont think i could do that. (for one, my hands would be black cause my handles are superdirty!) My hands are exposed on my bike, so everything hits them. Ill take a pic next time of all the bugs that get plastered on my knuckles haha.

i need something like this though.

Nice, that seems like a good price.

I've been contemplating some similar gear, including a better back protector.

I've also probably got to get some better quality boots, I cheaped out with some Alpinestars Not-Really-Boots.

Kinja'd!!! MountainCommand > jkm7680

Kinja'd!!!1

Alpinestars has some knee pads for like 45.

Quality boots are very worth it buddy. I ended up buying these:

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/cor…

The cheapest "race boots" i could find new with decent features. So far i love them. Easy to get on. Comfy. Overall just solid.

I have to look into the back protectors. Like the standalone vest style thing you put under a jacket.

That's a great price for boots, Thanks for the link man! I'll definitely save a link for them.

Alpinestars is normally my trusty gear source, but while on a budget their boots aren't that affordable. They also make some pretty good and cheap backpacks also.

Kinja'd!!! MountainCommand > jkm7680

Kinja'd!!!1

Took me forever to choose a boot haha. I wanted alpinestars so bad, but 400 bucks is crazy. At least for my riding style.

I sell shoes for my job. Knowing what good quality and crap looks like, the boots i got were around the above average mark. Im sure alpinestars would blow these away mind you. But i could get 2, maybe 3 pairs of these for the price of one alpinestars....

I will look into their backbacks. Ive been using my old llbean backpack, but i need something less cumbersome. Although, i think ill be going the camelback route instead.

Awesome, Good to know that they are of good quality! The price of A-Stars really threw me for a loop though, I couldn't justify paying that much for some shoes that could be ruined so quickly.

Quality does seem to be a bit of a problem with gear, the stuff is either good quality or bad quality. There doesn't seem to be that much middle ground in my experience.

Very true. And since we are usually left with buying off the internet, it gets spotty.

I have no brand loyalty so ill update you if i find these boots turn out to be garbage. So far though, i am happy and recommend them.

Yeah, I wish there were more stores where you could test fit gear. But sadly, there aren't many.

I'm really considering those boots, Many thanks!

They were the dainese knee v guards, http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/dai…

Out of stock at revzilla right now. I like them because they cover my knee and a goo long portion of my lower leg and I wear them with alpinestar bionic armored shorts when I wear jeans somewhere.

Brilliant good sir!

Also, do you wear any standalone chest/body armour vests?

Kinja'd!!! JKER > MountainCommand
09/15/2014 at 22:56

Kinja'd!!!0

No, always either an armored textile Castle jacket, or my Alpinestars GP Plus leather jacket. Both gotten for great deals on craigslist and they were barely used so I would recommend checking around there.

Kinja'd!!! MountainCommand > JKER
09/15/2014 at 23:02

Kinja'd!!!0

I guess i should say that id wear it under my jacket. I have an armoured jacket, but im thinking of getting one of those chest rigs and remove the back armour in the jacket itself so a backback will fit better. At least thats my thinking.

Im try to keep my eyes on craigslist as much as possible.

Btw, are these the same knee guards?

Gotcha that makes sense. Yeah those look like the same ones I have, be forewarned I didn't do a whole lot of research and am not guaranteeing that those are the absolute best ones out there but they work well for me.

Do you ride a sportbike with them? (im assuming from your avatar pic). My only fear is scratching the heck out of my tank cover.

Kinja'd!!! JKER > MountainCommand
09/15/2014 at 23:22

Kinja'd!!!0

I do, but 95% of the time I wear them under my pants. Haven't had any issues with scratching but if you wear them over your jeans that might be a possibility. You can always invest in tank grips which will keep your tank from being scratched and help you grip your bike better.
